So our English teacher had us come up with a god/goddess. Here's mine! :D
1.
What is his/her name?
Her name is Despina.
2.
What is he/she the god/goddess of?
She is the goddess of the winds and storms.
3.
What is his/her sacred animal?
The horse is her sacred animal- it's fast like the wind she controls and its hooves sound like rolling thunder.
4.
Does he/she fight? If no, then why not? If yes, then what
is his/her favorite weapon?
Yes, she fights and she's pretty good at it! Her favorite weapon is her bow, gathered from the clouds themselves and fashioned into the shape of a bow. Her arrows are made of white-hot lighting.
5.
What does he/she look like? Describe him/her and use a
picture if desired.
She can change her appearance like any other god, but she prefers to look like a young woman with long, silky, dark hair and piercing gray eyes. She's really tall and athletic.
6.
What does he/she do to those who anger him/her?
She strikes them down with her arrows, or sends a tornado after them.
7.
Come up with a short myth (story) about your god or
goddess.
Despina is overlooked much in mythology. She was born when the moon first shone on the Earth. All cultures have a version of her, she rules over different things, but her name is always Despina. Her father is said to be the moon and her mother is Earth.
Despina is loved by many. She is usually a goddess that forgives puny mortals for their indecencies, unlike other Greek gods (like Hera...). But that is only usually. There was this one hero, Vlasis. Despina was fond of this young man. That was, until his last quest. King Minos sent him to retrieve Arion, a mythical horse, for his breeding stock. Despina was okay with this; Vlasis would not hurt a defenseless animal. Despina was wrong. When Vlasis found Arion, instead of trapping him in a net like she had assumed he would, Vlasis shot the horse with an arrow given to Vlasis by Despina herself. This angered her greatly. She transformed into a giant rabid wolf and tore Vlasis into pieces as her revenge. That was the last time anyone ever messed with Despina's favorite horse.
